The Research Question, Literature Review, and Research Hypothesis

Question 1: How do descriptive research questions differ from questions of relationship?

The objective of descriptive research is to get to know the situations prevailing customs and attitudes through the exact description of the activities, objects, processes and people. Their goal is not limited to data collection, but the prediction and identification of relationships between two or more variables. Researchers are not just tabs, but the data collected on the basis of a hypothesis or theory, and summarize the information presented carefully and then carefully analyze the results, in order to draw meaningful generalizations that contribute to knowledge. The questions of relationships are asked to know about the relation of the phenomena.

For instance, in the study the questions have been asked about relationship exploration among dental anxiety, dental attendance and history of the treatment in children's of 5-years (Aggarwal, 2003). In qualitative research, interrogatories such as “what” and “how” are generally used in posing the central question because they tend to generate responses that are unique to the individual experiences of the respondent.

Question 2: How should a researcher determine if prior research exists on her intended research topic?

A researcher can determine his/her intended research topic on the basis of validity, which could be considered from three perspectives: “content validity, criterion-related validity, and construct validity. Content validity is primarily concerned with the samples and instruments used in the study and addresses the extent to which ensures that the phenomenon is explored in sufficient detail.
