The paper analyzes diverse arguments in order to highlight the effect depicted by drug addiction on family relationships. The paper utilizes the plot of “Beautiful Boy” by David Sheff in order to analyze the hypothesis constructed. Beautiful Boy is a story of a father concerned about his son's addiction for drugs and depicts how drug addiction has influenced their relationship. Introduction
Drug abuse and addiction is caused by a variety of factors comingled. According to various studies, there is a strong influence of drug addiction one the relationships and family function. Drug addiction has different definitions in different contexts but primarily refers to negative and excessive use of drugs. Drug addiction in the individuals not only affects their behavior and psychic ability; but, it has a significant impact on their offspring. It is not necessary that the behavior and psychic ability of offspring may be affected due to the drug addiction of their parents. Nevertheless, the addiction of parents morally deteriorates their children; because, the actions of the parents involved in drug addiction often react violently or absurd.
The involvement of a family member or the head of the family in drugs leads to various kinds of harm in terms of social, physical and psychological harm to children. However, there are also many individuals who stop consuming drugs before it really becomes problematic for them. It can therefore be said that although the rates of drugs usage are high but the number of individuals who get prone to drug addiction is a lot lower. There are several ways in which the parental involvement in drugs influences the social development of children. According to various sources, the alcohol or drug encounter during the pregnancy severely affects the development of a child. In addition, there is a possibility of diverse mental and psychological disorders in children in case of parental involvement in drug abuse.

Drug addiction in family causes several problems in the social development of the offspring. The children of the families involved in the drugs do not feel sufficiently loved or affirmed; because, the parents show lack of belongingness due to their involvement in drug abuse.
