Abstract

The United States establishment and its acceptance as a global power make the policy statements and doctrine more authoritative for people living in the nation and also those living overseas. This research paper is based on the objective to analyze the President's Carter Doctrine taking into account a brief summary of the situation, the events that the Doctrine followed the impact of the doctrine on United States and other nations and at the end the benefits and disadvantages associated with the doctrine.

Introduction

United States since the time of its origin keep on declaring its intentions and purposes in a magnificent manner to the global world. Each of the doctrine comprises of the diplomatic intentional statements .The paper will discuss the President's Carter doctrine and its impact on the American and other nation's economy.

Situation during President Carter's Time

United States had first shown their interest for the Persian Gulf during the period of World War II. United States holds the position of world leading oil producer and provides most of the supply for the Allied armies. The Crater Doctrine got its formulation basis from the three Cold War United States presidential doctrines namely the Truman Doctrine, the Eisenhower Doctrine, and the Nixon Doctrine. During the time of Carter, the cooperation period seemed to be very short lived. The Nixon Administration faced a number of hurdles and challenges from all the American political system edges asking about the morale and principles for granting the position of equal partners to the Soviets (Smith, 1986.). Carter was no more in a position to rescue the collaboration spirit. The Carter was much focused on the rights of society members that created an alarming position for the Soviet leaders. Carter adopted a more aggressive position against the USSR because of the series of events including conflict in the Horn of Africa and the detection of Soviet troops in Cuba. The attack made by Moscow on the neighboring country Afghanistan brings Carter more decisively into the group of cold warriors. The event leads Carter to come up with several principles that reflect the indication that the relations between United Nations and the Soviet Union are in danger.
