Introduction
Students all around the world strive to achieve their goals and excel academically. Unfortunately, then there are those students which struggle on a daily basis with their grades and academic who has conditions like ADHD or Scoliosis. Their peers and teachers alike fail to understand their conditions and ridicule them (McMahan, 2011).
Discussion
Generally, students with conditions such as ADHD or Scoliosis are generally regarded as back benchers or often ridiculed by their peers and teachers, as their conditions are hard to detect at times. A student having these conditions or one of the conditions is recognized to be lazy, unfocused and frustrated, as teachers and parents at times fail to understand the problem due to lack of professional awareness. These symptoms are detected when it is too late and the effected individual is in a great deal of pain and agony.
These conditions are now becoming common in the west amongst students as young as kindergarten going children or those students who are enrolled in primary school. ADHD which means Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that makes it difficult for a student to pay attention, control their behavior and to sit still. These symptoms start showing as the child turns seven and at times they are not recognizable and are unable to get cured.
Therefore, doctors are still unable to find what causes ADHD. However, some neurologist have done researches and have led to a conclusion that due to lack of chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters this problem is caused. As many as 5 out of every 100 children in school may have ADHD. Boys are three times more likely than girls to have ADHD (Stier, 2010).
Even, though this disease if detected can be treated and can be uprooted from the individuals system but mostly, these go undetected and when it is discovered it is too late. Often the people misjudge this condition by saying that the student is utterly spoilt and is not able to concentrate as he/she is distracted all the time. What the people to fail to realize is this that the student has a chemical imbalance which makes their concentration span limited making them fall behind the class schedule.
