This section presents the Boid analysis for Dell, and the implication of this analysis on the current and future strategies of the company. This analysis provides help to the management of the companies, when they decide to revise or improve their business strategy.

During the early years of trade, it was very easy for any company to maintain its market position and gain customers. However, as the technology has got evolved, it has become difficult for any company to maintain its position in the market. This is particularly true with the companies whose core operating processes are directly linked with Technology. Thus, Boid analysis can provide significant help for design and deploying the company's strategy. The analysis involves a model of flock of boids that can fly conveniently in the absence of any obstacle (Reynolds, 2012).

The main rules of Boid analysis, which impact industry the most, include avoidance, alignment and attraction. In my point of view, all these three attributes can be mapped to the Dell, and the company must follow this old, yet effective rules for continue successful business operations. The company must not avoid the business operations and success stories of the competitors, if the company does so, it will lag behind the competition. Similarly, the customers can easily avoid Dell, if it does not provide them with the sense of security, or positive reputation. It is possible for the company with huge assets to let the customers involved in it, as it is very difficult to neglect the company with huge, famous and successful product line, and large community of loyal customers.

As far as the second attribute is concerned, it remains valid for Dell, as the company has to align its strategies with the technologies available today (Dell, 2012). Also, for maintaining a successful and different position in the market, the company must align its strategies with the customer demand, and must ensure to deliver the customer focused products and services at the competitive prices. The third point of the analysis which is attraction also fits to the company directly. In this age of competition and interactive media, it has become essentially important for any company to engage in the activities that could attract the customers to the company. For Dell, there may be various methods for attracting the customers, for example, the company may offer discount packages for the loyal customers, or may launch advertisement campaigns on internet, in order to attract new customers.

Implications of Analysis

Over the past few years, the computer industry has been going through significant advancements, mainly due to the rise of technology. Also, a tough competition is found between the giants of computer industry, for example, Dell, Apple, and so on.
