ABSTRACT
This study aims at exploring the concepts of RFID technology in a holistic context. Main objective of this research is to examine the impact of RFID technology on students attendance monitoring system. This research evaluates multiple aspects of RFID technology and determine its effect on students attendance monitoring. This research also highlights numerous factors that are responsible for students attendance monitoring and tries to describe the overall effect of RFID technology on student's attendance monitoring system. The RFID reader incorporated in this study is Nokia 6212 NFC phone.

Chapter 1: Introduction
Background of the study
Radio Frequency Identification, commonly known as RFID is an automatic identification technologies more in vogue nowadays. There is a wide research and development in this area trying to take maximum advantage of this technology, and in coming years many new applications and research areas will continue to appear. (Lekakos, 2007, pp.1110-22) This sudden interest in RFID also brings about some concerns, mainly the security and privacy of those who work with or use tags in their everyday life. RFID has, for some time, been used to access control in many different areas, from asset tracking to limiting access to restricted areas. In this paper, the study proposes architecture and a prototype of a system that uses distributed RFID over Ethernet and we demonstrate how to automate an entire students' attendance registration system by using RFID in an educational institution environment. Although the use of RFID systems in educational institutions is not new, it is intended to show how the use of it came to solve daily problems in UK schools. (McFarlan, 2002, pp.109-19)
Problem Statement
At UK schools, the attendance of all students present in a given class is recorded. To carry out this registration, each teacher has an attendance register that must be filled in for every class held. At the beginning of each lesson the teacher is required to fill in the attendance sheet, with all the information concerning the lesson. After that, the attendance sheet handed out so that all students sign the sheet. When all students have signed, the teacher collects the sheet and checks the attendance of each student into an excel file. The purpose of the file is to verify whether the student has already exceeded the maximum number ...
