Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to write my reaction on two stories i.e. “Salvation by Langston Hughes” and “On going home by Joan Didion”. The paper makes an analysis of my thinking about these two stories. The paper also makes analysis on the strategies that I believe the writer should use in the stories to convey the idea, and how I personally relate to the theme. The paper makes discussion on the intended purpose of each story and its theme.

Discussion

Langston Hughes created prior experience in a true to life drama of guilt, deceit, and grief, the "salvation." Langston Hughes has made the description in his writings that how he felt the experience of being saved. He said that this is the reason why he found himself disappointed. This is the reason of his lying in the church. The reason of being saved led him towards the guilt. He said that it is my saving that has increased my faith for Jesus. He depicted in his story that an adult should impose a good effect on the children, so that they should know that whatever they are doping is right.

When nothing happens, Langston goes ahead anyway just to please her aunt and the church. Ultimately not only devastated by grief, but he lost all faith in God. "Salvation" is an impressive portrait of what true salvation is. This is a decision of the heart, not just walking down a hallway (Winkler, 2003). Although Langston Hughes believes in the reality of Jesus, was forced to do something deceptively completely against their will. He fooled everyone to make a sincere decision. Langston could hear himself thinking about the test and knew I was alone. His final decision was based on what was enough for the congregation itself. Instead of moving forward, he waited for Mr. Langston to come to him. When nothing happens, Langston goes ahead anyway just to please her aunt and the church. In the end is not only worth-pressed, but has lost all belief in God.

Group the pressure forced Langston do something that was completely against your good sense. When was the friend of Langston Westley increasing pressure ahead twice? Not only exposed to the persuasion of the church, but he realized that if Westley did it, it might be admissible. A similar situation could be Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

I would say that Langston Hughes has described his feelings in a verey effective way. He used the influential words that led to the success of his stories and attention of readers. His story was very influential, and attracted the readers.

In the story Hughes has described his feelings of having faith on Jesus, and his wait for Jesus. He was in a difficulty and waited Jesus to come and save him.
