Introduction

Same sex adoption of the LGTB adoption is an adoption by a same sex couple or one of the partners of the same sex couple or a by a single person who is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. This adoption is legal in about 14 countries by law. Others strictly forbade and condone such adoptions. Gay adoption has changed the family dynamics in the United States of America. According to a report published by the Urban Institute and the Williams Institute at University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, In the United States, alone there are 65,000 children who are living with same sex parents. Other than these, there are 14,100 who are living with an LGTB (Bloom, 2011). The state laws in the US prohibit same sex adoption. The paper discusses the many reasons why this law should not be held.

Discussion

In the year 2004, Massachusetts legalized the gay marriages (Ross, 2011). Currently, there are six states in the United States that have legalized gay marriages. These are Massachusetts, Iowa, Washington, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont, and New York. Same sex marriages were legal in California after which the government rendered them illegal. However, the topic of same sex adoption remains controversial and is highly debated.

Same sex adoption should be legalized in that it ensures provision of equality. Same sex unison takes place due to several reasons. These include biological, psychological and social preferences for a matrimonial partner. For people who do not have the normal sexual inclination towards the other gender, opposite sex marriage can be a burden. For these people, marrying their gender of choice is their innate right that no state or legislation can rob them of. Similarly, just like other people who are considered 'normal', the LGTB too have sentiments, emotions and feelings. They too want the love and company of children as much as the other people. Children are the biggest source of joy and entertainment (Stone, 2009). Raising them is not just a responsibility but it is something that comes naturally to all human beings. Parenthood is the most fulfilling job. Parenthood is married with responsibilities such as baby feeding, sleepless nights and many others. It is a path from which there is no return. If a same sex couple wants to embark on this road and they want to do it by choice then there is no reason any state law should prevent them.

Being an LGTB is not a reason good enough for any state to deprive them of this happiness that comes from parenthood. This is also true for children who are often and have a guardian aunt or uncle raising them. If this aunt or uncle considers the child a burden on them then they will never give the child the love care and attention, the child deserves (Gandossy, 2007).
