ABSTRACT

Irish businesses offer a conducive environment for the businessmen who take up the business activity and indulge in performing within the Irish corporate marketplace. This paper emphasizes on the role of industrial development that was facilitated by the Enterprise Ireland in terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the contribution of the companies to the export ratio. The emphasisi will be on the general role of EI in increasing the prospects of manufacturing and service sectors of Ireland corporate sector. This paper also suggests that the role of Enterprise Ireland in stimulating Irish companies is profund in the sense that it creates an attractive environment in which the domestic and international players could pursue strong strategic objectives and other organizational objectives. While on one hand, the prospects hold significant opportunities for the Iirsih industry itself, it also has developed an ability to attract foreign companies from off-shore lands. This has given a boost to the industries and have contributed to the sustainability of overall Irish marketplace. We have also emphasized on the financial service companies of Ireland that have availed from this facilitation of EI and grown with the passge of time.

CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

Entrepreneurship in Ireland has always been dynamic in terms of the potential opportunities and challenges that it witholds. This section extends a detailed introduction on the role of Enterprise Ireland (EI) and the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) in upbringing and supporting the small and medium sized entrprises in Ireland, absed on their capacities to cope with changing business scenarios. Enterprise Ireland is the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets. The agency diligently undertakes the task of promoting Irish companies in the global business scenario with an aim of driving substantial export growth, regional and national well-being, economic stability while simultaneously targeting for the future milestones for the Irish enterprises. It especially bridges the governmental policies and strategies to the small and medium sized enterprises. This task offers multiple challenges to the government as it copes with several barriers to the promotion of Irish industries in the international trade. We will go about the study in a systematic manner, addressing every key area related to the mission of EI, in detail. This section develops into the literature review where we will examine different emerging trends and initiatives of the government with special emphasis on the aftermath of policy implementations and the specific roles of Enterprise Ireland and other agencies in upbringing Irish business scope to international levels. Our main emphasis will be on the Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs) that EI facilitates brining into the country, along with the development of SMEs and entrepreneurship.
