Introduction

An introduction to Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem was published in 1994, and has since been used as a very complete framework for the workings of bible study and theology by students and scholars alike. In this paper, I will be discussing the authors ability to present his thesis in a manner that is both succinct and easily accessible, as well as evaluate whether his contributions to the industry of bible doctrine have been as monumental as other valued authors. It is clear that the Christian church has been following the conventions presented in a systematic method of theology, as it studies doctrine and theology within the traditional framework of concepts such as the Word of God, redemption and Jesus Christ.

The author has clearly kept abreast of the latest writings and resources relating to his subject, and is skilled at the art of simplification. He dissects, analyzes and illustrates his points and theological truths in a simplified manner that is easily understood and accepted. Not only this, he presents the reader with questions at the end of each of his fifty seven chapters in order to keep students and scholars interested. For example, in Chapter 21, “The Creation of Man”, there are simplified questions accompanying the title, “why did God create us?, How did God make up like himself?”, and so on. This compels the reader to scour each chapter in a more ...
