Reflective Log

Introduction

The aim of this project was to conduct a research regarding political conspiracy involving a historical event or incident in the history. For this purpose I chose to conduct a detailed research on the conspiracy regarding the John F. Kennedy assassination on November 22, 1963.

This paper involves the reflective log of the research conducted for this project. The following paper discusses in detail the observations/experiences/thoughts which I collected during the research and writing of my project.

Discussion

A Reflective log is an easy way of keeping track of the sources that I found and an opportunity for me to think about the theory I am discussing in the research study. Initially, for this particular project, I decided to conduct primary research by designing questionnaire or interviews. However, due to lack of resources and time, I decided to conduct a secondary research because it is easy and plethora of information can be gathered via secondary sources. In secondary data collection, the data collection and information gathering is done with the help of different mediums like literature, broadcast media, publication and other types of available information sources. Secondary research doesn't include any type of subjects involving humans.

Secondary data are data that have been interpreted and recorded. Just as we are bombarded with primary data, we arc cascaded with secondary data in the form of news bulletins, magazines, newspapers, documentaries, advertising, the Internet etc. The data are wrapped, packed and spun into pithy articles or digestible sound bites. The quality of the data depends on the source and the methods of presentation. Refereed journals containing papers vetted by leading experts, serious journals, such as some professional and trade journals will have authoritative articles by leading figures. Magazines can contain useful and reliable information or be entirely flippant. The same goes for books — millions of them! They range from the most erudite and deeply researched volumes to ranting polemics and commercial pap. Television and radio programs vary, likewise as does the information on the Internet.

Thus, my research was based on the secondary sources that take into account qualitative data. Qualitative design of research is often more subjective in nature as compared to quantitative design of research and utilizes very diverse techniques for collection of information that could be both primary and secondary in nature. The nature of this of this research design is open-ended and exploratory.

According to Sanders et al (2007), the processes, as qualitative research designs, often emerge from the researcher's reflection after their first forays into reality under study. If we understand the design in the broadest sense of planning the activities to be carried out to solve problems or answer the questions posed, then the design becomes a bridge between the research question and the solution or response is given. The design serves to bring the researcher in the empirical world and know the tasks that you need to accomplish to meet the objective proposed. Research process and research design are concepts that have ...
