Quality Improvement Process

Quality Improvement Process the hospital is cross-cutting areas for those hospitals, which are interested in continuous improvement of the conditions of care for patients and the establishment of comprehensive risk-averse operations (Simmons, 2009). Prevention and risk management are important tools to increase the safety of care and quality of services delivered to patients. Both sought a reduction of malfunctions that could cause damage to the operations of the hospital and services of patients. Quality improvement (QI) process often requires significant changes in people's attitudes and behaviors.

The prevailing approach in the conduct and motivation of employees in the U.S. since the beginning of the century is based on the ideas of an engineer named Frederick W. Taylor. Taylor. Through this approach, the employee is considered the extension of the machine. Productivity improvements are made to invent better machines, and to find ways to make the human extension of these machines more efficient. The senior management decisions are significant and transferred to the middle management levels, to be well past the line employees.

Quality Improvement Teams

When an organization embark on quality improvement (QI) work, it is helpful to organize an implementation team (Quality Improvement Team) and set up a structure and process for how that team will work together in managing the improvement activities. Some organizations create highly formalized structures; in others, a small, informal group leads the QI effort. The choices about team membership, roles, and meeting schedule should reflect what will work best for the organization and the people who will be involved.

A Quality Improvement Team can have an important role in the successful application of a quality improvement in an organization. The important aspect of that is the selection of right individuals with appropriate skills and qualities for effective implementation of quality improvement processes throughout the organization (Tulenko, 2009). Individuals who are respected highly among the peers and have experience which enables them to intervene for the effectiveness of the quality improvement processes through their expertise.

Leadership is possibly the most important element in quality improvement at any organization. A key point is that quality improvement initiative has to be introduced and led by top management. Commitment and personal involvement is required from top management in the creation and deployment of defined systems, methodologies and performance measure to achieve the organizational goals.
