The Concept

The term Proxy War is referred to the war that takes place when conflicting powers use third parties as substitutes for fighting each other directly. In other words, it is an armed conflict in which two countries use sub contractors i.e. proxies - as replacements, so they do not fight each other directly (Anthony & Robert, 2003).
