Minorities can be defined as a social group within a demographic group that is differentiated from the majority. Minority is more specifically used to define a social class, ethnicity, political party, religious class or an opposition. Across the world minorities from the above mentioned categories are subjected to differentiation and at times discrimination from the majority. The concept of minorities has been in use since the time people started migrating from a place to another. In the modern era it has picked up pace as the traveling resources have increased. People who face problems in their native countries travel to another country for several purposes. For instance the major reason behind migration around the world is to get employed; however there are other reasons as well due to which people migrate. United States of America is a country with a diverse culture. Various people migrate to U.S to seek career opportunities. When they travel and migrate to U.S and settle down, they become national minorities. It is an issue that is causing problems for the minorities across the world. Especially religious minorities face extreme issues from the majority. Most recent example of that can be witnessed in the atrocities by the majority upon the Muslims in Burma.

The constitutional protection of minorities, which is to ensure and in order to ensure full freedom of everyone to have their individuality, began with the "bill of rights" - Declaration of Rights, the U.S (Pentassuglia, 2009). With it, individual would have the freedom of expression and religious tolerance. Before that, however, in antiquity, in the Classical period, several minority groups were persecuted, killed and enslaved. However, we see that these archaic societies, by presenting a simple division of work, often based on only one criterion (such as sex); there was a lot similarity between its members and little tolerance for behavior ...
