What is the "Freedom of Speech?" Has the meaning of it changed from the day the founding fathers wrote it to the present day?

Freedom of speech is a human right to freely express thoughts. It currently includes freedom of expression, both orally and in written form (freedom of the press and the media) and to a lesser extent related to the political and social advertising (propaganda). This right is mentioned in a number of international documents, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 19), the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights among others. Freedom of speech is the right to freely express his opinion in writing and speaking without prior approval of others, and thereby stands in contrast to censorship. Freedom of expression has had a decisive influence on the development of society, which took place in late 1900-century in the Western world. It is perceived as one of the pillars of a functioning democracy, because this is based on the free exchange of views (Eldridge, 1994).
