What Type Of Promotional Campaign Did Verizon And Google Use To Introduce The Droid Phone?
The web has gone crazy thanks to the Droid Does commercials which were aired on TV by Verizon in order to point out all the weaknesses of a certain iPhone 3GS. After those simple commercials, now it's time for some simple mails (Attention: not emails! We're talking about mails in the mailbox!) And Verizon is sending some promotional material to the masses. “In a world that doesn't, Droid Does,” says the mail. The Motorola Droid will become available sometime in November and the promotion states that the Google Android 2.0 phone features Google Search by voice and that it sees in the dark. On top of that, the Droid will be available on America's fastest and largest 3G network which is true, but Verizon and Motorola should have said something about the OMAP3 processor which is fast, scary fast (like the ad says).
Check out the promotional photos in the mails and let us know if you've received something similar. The Droid looks like a real smartphone, and it will definitely pose a threat to the iPhone 3GS thanks to the great marketing campaign. At the moment Apple didn't issue an official response to the ads, but what can the Cupertino-based company say? After all… iDon't? The glove is off. After attacking AT&T, Verizon just released a commercial attacking/mocking the iPhone as an 'iDon't' device that doesn't have a real keyboard, can't multitask, can't take 5-megapixel pictures, can't take pictures in the dark, can't customize, can't run widgets, and can't interchange batteries. And guess what? Everything that the 'iDon't' can't do, the Droid does. No shots of the Droid (previously known as the Sholes) were actually shown in the commercial but there is no doubt that Verizon is betting big on their first Android device. We're absolutely certain that interest in the Droid will soon reach a fever pitch and come November, it's going to be one of the most anticipated devices of the year. Expect more commercials and ads about what the Droid does and what the 'iDon't' cant.
