Introduction

Life is beautiful! But various cruel incidents of life make our heart and our selves hopeless and dead. Some people cannot bear the pain of these misfortune events that life show to us and ultimately they want an escape from facing all this by choosing a way which not only harms others but also harmful for their own self. Such people choose a path of wrong doings and indulge in activities that are an offense of criminal laws, rules and regulation. Such people can enjoy by getting benefits from these activities of a criminal offense for a short time but eventually they end up spending some part or the whole life in prison in punishment. Those who commit a serious and severe nature of a criminal offense have to suffer from punishment for the lifetime while others only spend some part of life in prison. Those who spend their lifetime in prison suffer from misery and severe punishment. Whereas those who spend few years in the prison not only suffer when they remain in prison but also face difficulties when they get out of the prison and make an attempt to adjust their lives according to the rules and regulations of the society. Punishment is given to the criminals and offenders of law so that they do not repeat this action again. But, there are people who even after getting the punishment repeat the mistake. Whenever, an inmate is released from the prison, it is expected that he or she would not indulge in any activities of criminal law offense. But there are few people who seek constant guidance, mentoring and support to overcome their ability to say no to such activities. In order to address this issue the concept of re-entry program came into existence. The topic of this research is also revolves around the same phenomenon of re-entry program. In re-entry program, various training and counseling programs are provided to the inmate to prepare them to re-enter in the society so that they do not indulge in any activities of criminal law offense. Such programs are prevalent in the society of United States (Rhine, 1997).

Since William Penn and the Quakers of Pennsylvania formulated a wing of the Walnut Street Jail in with regard to the house sentenced offender in the year 1790, United States of America continued to have prisons as a sanction for those who violate any sort of criminal laws. During the next two hundred years, a number of changes have been occurred with regard to the different programs that were offered, the way in which prisons were operated and different correctional goals that were considered (Rose, 1999). From all this period, the pendulum has been swung from tight security and harsh discipline to paying emphasis on rights of individual prisoners and rehabilitative treatment.
