Internship experience at Congresswoman Yvette Clarkes Office
I worked in the Congresswoman Yvette Clarkes office as an internee in the period of summers. I was appointed as an internee for hearing and answering the constituent letters. It was an unpaid internship program, but I gained vast knowledge about the issues at the federal level. It is an interesting office that works for the betterment of the citizens located in Brooklyn and deals with the cultural, racial, and ethical issues. During my internship program, I learned about the ethical and racial issues that are occurring in the city. I experienced about the federal level issues that how much racial profiling is common and how the police department is harshly reacting towards the ethnic minorities. I noticed that the African Americans, Latino, and Muslim communities are the main targets of the police department, although these communities are not leaded by anyone, but police focuses on these communities more. The harsh and brutal behavior of police is increasing day by day. Such culture made the people scared of the police. Moreover, I noticed that the poison of racism affected the NYPD that is not making any change and politics are involved in this issue. In short, I observed that in deferral issues, the main and revolving issue if of “racism”.
Cases I am working on and overall experience at office
Currently, I am working on the cases of ethnicity victims and heathcare issues. The victims who are killed or assaulted by the white Americans, police, or other bodies in U.S.these cases include the case of ethnic minorities people (black people) who are brutally killed by the wite Americans. Ye, I am enjoying working here because it has given me a new experience an a new way to see the isseues revolving in U.S. The environmenet of the office is god and cooperative. From this internship, I have learned a lot and still I am learning. I have learned that the ratio of black people killing is incereasimg day by day. This racial killimng is giving rise to several issues and riots that is making the country's situation worst. Moreover, I also experienced that the black people are killed, harassed, and molested for no reason by the police and public. I learnt that theer is inquality issue in the society of U.S. and to some extent, government itself makes it worst. Yes, I go to the events that are held for the betterment of the society and for eliminating the ethnic minority issue and to promote diverstity to stop racim and raciual killing. This office is currentlt dealing with eleven issues; issues of carribean, healthcare, healthcare reform, educational problems, housing, immigration, environment, recovery and reinvestment act, enery, labor, and immigration. Among these issues, healthcare, healthcare reform,a nd carribean issues are the top most current issus in U.S.
