Task 1-A

This task requires designing a personal development plan (PDP) for my team. Personal Development Plan (PDP) is a document which a person designs for planning his actions in an organized manner (World Work, 2012). This plan supports the person in setting his goals, identifying his skills, development needs and learning opportunities.

Personal Development Plan

Following is the PDP, which I have designed with a goal of getting promotion from the designation of first line manager to senior manager.

Purpose

To get promoted to the designation of senior manager, from the current position of first line manager

Spend some time with the senior manager in order to observe his skills

Join some course to learn the use of decision support, reporting and analysis computerized systems.

Action Plan

First Month

Would analyze my learning capabilities.

Would work for identifying my existing skills.

Would spend an hour daily with the senior manager.

In addition to the senior manager, I would ask the senior employees to help me in developing the required capabilities.

Second Month

After the analysis of my existing skills and learning capabilities, would join some computer training centre.

Would research the case studies and best practices, in order to understand the concepts of efficient leadership, team work, and motivating others.

Third Month

Would evaluate my developed skills by solving some case studies (which I would find available online).

Implementing Personal Development Plan

The following essay discusses the process used for implementing a personal development plan in the workplace, how to use the skills and competencies of the staff members for a successful implementation of development plan, importance of such plans to individuals as well as business, importance of setting goals and planning actions and finally to communicate the developed plans to the staff.
