This assignment is based on the performance appraisal system in TCI. The performance appraisal system should be fair and apparent so that the employee can easily understand the review made by the manager in order to develop and mould his behavior and to make progress in his/ her work. This assignment focuses on the appraisal system that went wrong in TCI. The process could have gone better if Pamela could have understand the culture of Nob that would have been helpful for her to make Nob understand the review that she is giving to him. There is a huge difference in the communication style of America and Japan. The culture of America is dependent on the direct communication style and the culture of Japan is dependent on the succinct or indirect communication style. Moreover, poor performance appraisal system can lead to less productivity, employee's lack of involvement, and high employee turnover rate. Lastly, the effective changes are required in the appraisal process of TCI and TCI should amend the changes by educating the manager more about the cross cultural difference in order to give clear review regardless of the cultural background.

Vladimir (2009) stated that the performance appraisal system is the main motivator that motivates the employees for better work opportunities and develops the career of the employees. Therefore, the appraisal system should be effective that can entertain the employees and can boost their morale for better and proficient work. However, from the above case of TCI, it is analyzed that the process of reviewing the performance of Nob could have gone better if Pamela would have understood the background of Nob. In addition, Pamela should have been trained for the position of giving appraisal to the employees. The main thing that went wrong was the lack of experience of Pamela. Pamela was an honored and hardworking employee but for the designation of manager and for appraising the employee's performance, she was not capable because she had issues with the diverse ethnic employees and she was not able to properly talk to the employees who belong to different ethnic groups.
