Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to go through the case study of “Performance Review Takes a Page from Facebook” and then make an analysis on different questions based on this case study. This article discusses the effectiveness of performance measurement system through using the social media networks like Facebook and Twitter.

This article discusses that companies and employers are using Facebook and Twitter to review their performances (Deutsch 2010). They take a page from these social networking websites and keep on posting their stuff and ask for people's opinion regarding their performances. The software like Performance Multiplier and Rypple, helps the employers to post on the Facebook and Twitter and monitor their performances.

These tools are the biggest analyzer of performance on the social networking websites. They help the employer's ask questions like what is your opinion regarding my work and what is your feedback regarding this?

I disagree with the statement that “If I have regular conversations with people, and they know where they stand, then the performance evaluation is unnecessary”. I feel like that people's opinion is not enough for the performance evaluation. In order to carry the performance evaluation, it is necessary that, the management and the employer should also give feedback regarding the performances (Sam 2009). Most of The people think that if they are continuously posting their work on the pages of social networking sites and getting feedback from people, this is enough for their performance evaluation. This is not enough, because mostly people are not sincere in their opinions and they just do not give the genuine replies. This is the reason that, for the performance measurement, the feedback from the management is also necessary.

2. Compare and contrast the possible effectiveness of the social network performance review to the following age groups: veterans, baby boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y.
