Introduction

The author Foucault writes about the inmates imprisoned alone in the cell can be anybody. It could be a madman, a patient, a condemned man, a worker, or even a schoolboy of the society (319). Later the author crafts a statement declaring that the lives of all the people resemble nothing more but a prison's life. “Is it true that prisons resemble factories, schools, barracks, hospitals, which all resemble prisons?” (Bentham, pp: 29-95)

Essay relating it with Bangladesh

Relating to the situation the author mentioned, I can easily replicate it with my country Bangladesh. The surrounding and the people in the country are the same as mentioned above. The situation makes me think about the claim the author mentioned in his book regarding “life as a prisoner”. Not only this, the school I attended has somewhat similar features as well as structures descried in the essay. The school had tall, thick walls around it, isolating the children from the outside world. There was no way any outside could peep into the building and catch a glimpse of the school. There was no connection of the outside world with us till the end of the school. The entrance of the building was grand; it had high metal gates with two guards situated on both sides of the entrance. The guards were always vigil and checked the identity cards of all students.

Not only this, the identity cards of the parents who dropped the children were also checked. The entrance was highly secured with metal detectives, as well as it was under camera surveillance. The campus divided into three buildings the (elementary section, primary section and the secondary) each section was separated in such a way that no secondary and primary section students could interact with ...
