Purpose of the study

The main purpose of this research study will be to understand the use of outdoor food vendors for festival.

Background of the Study

The Columbus Arts Festival is looking for a few new food vendors for their 48th annual event taking place on June 5, 6, and 7 this year (chneider, 1999). The festival will once again be held near CCAD in the Discovery District as construction on the riverfront continues over the summer.

Thesis Statement

This study will focus on the use of different outdoor food vendors hired by the companies in order to arrange a food festival.

Research Question

The research question for this study will be that how do companies hire the outdoor food vendors for the festivals and why do they hire outdoor food vendors?

Chapter 2: Literature Review

The Columbus Arts Festival presented by Time Warner Cable is seeking food vendors for the 2009 Festival, June 5, 6 & 7. Applications must be received by Friday, January 23, 2009.

Entering its 48th year, the Columbus Arts Festival is produced by the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and features the fine art and fine craft of 240 artists from North America (O'Brien, 2005).  It is one of the country's highest ranked arts festivals and in addition to the 240 artists provides continuous musical entertainment, interactive art activities for children and adults and over 40 food vendors offering a variety of cuisine from gourmet to festival fare.

This year over 250,000 people of all ages and diverse backgrounds attended the four day event in downtown Columbus along the east side of the Scioto River making it one of central Ohio's largest and most popular outdoor attractions (Bal Oliver oglu, 1997).

Selected food vendors can choose between 10' x 10' or 10' x 20' booth space and are restricted from selling beverages of any kind; ice cream; and merchandise or take home food of any type.  Vegetarian and creative menus are encouraged. 

The Greater Columbus Arts Council, a not-for-profit organization, encourages and supports cultural development in the Columbus area.  In this capacity GCAC provides technical services to artists and arts organizations, acts as the community's voice on arts advocacy issues, and serves as the official agency for City of Columbus grants for ...
