Use Of Orthotics In Children With Flat Feet: Cypriot Podiatrists Views
Introduction
This is probably the topic that generates the most referrals in orthopedics infant. The term "flat foot" has connotations that go beyond medical terminology and achieve intimate levels of the unconscious people, those who felt humiliated by a specific aspect or a way of walking, of those one day excluded from military service, of those who try to be, claiming a deformity so small they did not reach the scale or those going to the pediatrician and frightened or in an orthopedist with the fear that their child is labeled as "flat feet" all his life (Volpon , 1994, pp. 83-85.).
In reality, the research paper is talking about a banal condition, in most cases or anatomical impairment, when it is more serious, it is no different from others with the same medical transcendence, are not as responsible for social connotations. Essentially, the flat foot is a depression of the arch that extends the support points of its surface. Instead of support on two pillars, front and rear, and the degree, the greater the area that he does is great. The simple design that serves the majority of people, patients to put in place, is somewhat more complex anatomically. For the arch collapses, some alterations occur in the architecture of the foot again, this collapse of the arch, one helical turn occurs, the back foot deviates downwards and in the forefoot opposite (Stavlas, 2005, pp 424-428).
Purpose of the Study
Use of orthotic therapy in children for the management of flat foot has been considered contentious. Whilst the literature suggests orthotic use for flat feet in children is inconclusive, throwing into doubt the utility of the practice, it does not appear to be universally accepted in practice. Views of Cypriot podiatrists, working in the private sector, were ascertained in order to establish common practice with regard to use of orthotics in children's flat feet.
Thesis Statement
This resarch work has taken into consideration the use of orthotics in children with flat feet, as mentioned above that this topic has previously been treated as very debatable, therefore, this paper will be revolving around the topic on hand.
Research Aims and Objectives
As this research work emphasize on the use of orthotics in children with flat feet, therefore, following are the main aims and objectives of this research:
To understand the use of orthotics in children
To identify the causes of flat feet
To analyze the views of Cypriot Podiatrists
Need for Further Evidence
The emerging theme from this research paper towards the background of use of orthotics in children with flat feet has been identified with lack of sound and available evidence. While there is some evidence available, the methodologies of these studies inhibit their usefulness with regard to replication of ...
