Organisational Structure

An organisational structure is a formal framework by which job tasks are divided, grouped and coordinated (Robbins & Coulter, 2007). When managers change or develop the organisation structure they are involved in organisational design. This process involves six key elements: work specialisation, departmentalisation, chain of command, span of control, centralisation and decentralisation, and formalisation. The right organisational structure would allow their employees to accomplish organisational goals effectively and efficiently.
