Nuclear Energy AS Solution Global Warming

INTRODUCTION

Definitions and Background

Nuclear energy can be defined as the energy that is emitted by the using Uranium, which is a metal found and mined all over the world. Currently the world is facing the issue of global warming. To help prevent global warming nuclear energy is considered a solution. Nuclear energy contributes to avoid discharge to the atmosphere of large quantities of green house gases.

Nuclear energy was initially discovered in 1896 by a French physicist Henri Becquerel who observed that photographic plates that were kept in close proximity towards uranium were becoming dark, similar to X-ray plates.

Some milestones in the history and background of nuclear energy are:

December 2, 1942: starting point of the age of nuclear when Enrico Fermi created a chain reaction with collection uranium at the University of Chicago.

November 1, 1952: For test use, a bomb quiet more powerful than nuclear bomb, called hydrogen bomb was blown up by the United States.

February 21, 1956: In England the first major nuclear power plant was opened.

Purpose and Audience

The purpose of this study is to investigate how nuclear energy is a solution to global warming. In addition it aims to make the readers of this report become aware of the global concern which is global warming and how with the passage of time this could become a serious concern. Another main purpose of this report is to acquaint the audience with how nuclear energy helps in reducing the green house effect. It has been written at a sub technical level so that various people can read and make use of it.

Limitations

The aim of this research is quiet limited to one agenda which is how Nuclear energy at present helps in reducing global warming; to avoid discharge to the atmosphere of large quantities of green house gases more specifically carbon dioxide. It will not discuss the hurdles or disasters world is facing due to nuclear energy or how many countries up till now have become a nuclear power.

Scope

This report will begin by providing comprehensive information regarding how nuclear energy is produced and how it is linked to a global issue which is global warming. Further as we read further, this report talk's extensively over one main issue that how nuclear energy is a solution to global warming.
