Recruitment and Selection are the core components of Human Resource Management system that is responsible for each and every employee's conduct and behavior. Human resource is the back bone of any organization and if employees are not managed properly then it is a chance that organization will not be able to work in the long run. An organization's overall HRM system will not be successful if first line managers do not know how to implement HRM practices. The Nordstrom, Inc. is a US-based department store - and shipping store chain. The headquarters and most important flagship store are located in Seattle in the U.S. state of Washington. Nordstrom operates in the upper price segment, with competitors like Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord& Taylor (Swanson, 1995).
Nordstrom was founded in 1901 as a single shoe store of the Swedish immigrants founded John W. Nordstrom and Carl Wallin in Seattle. It took 22 years when it was added to a second shoe store. In 1928, John moved back to W. Nordstrom out of business and transferred his shares to his two sons. It took another 31 years until the business had expanded to eight stores in two states.
