NEPA Court Case - Norton v. Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance
NEPA Court Case - Norton v. Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance
The south Utah Wilderness coalition (SUWA) litigated the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for violating the government Land principle and Management Act (FLPMA) and NEPA by not properly organizing off-road vehicle (ORV) use on federal countries that had been classified as wilds study areas or as having wilds qualities. SUWA sought relief under the Administrative Procedure proceed (APA) claiming that BLM should be compelled to carry out mandatory, non-discretionary duties required by FLPMA and NEPA.
