EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This research focused on how the motivation impacts the organisational success. The case study of the research was Barclays UK. The research aimed to answer the following questions:How Barclays bank motivates its employee? What are the success factors for Barclays bank? How the bank competes in the international market and how organisational environment and culture plays a role in its success? The researcher used mixed research method and used questionnaire as the instrument for data collection. This research proved useful as the research touched many new aspects of motivation. The researcher did extensive study and studied the behavior of the employees of Barclays. At the end of the research, the researcher gave recommendations as to how to improve the motivation level of the employees at Barclays.

Background

This research focuses on Barclays bank Glasgow branch. Barclays has been operating in the banking industry for past thirty years and is known as the banking expert. There are more than 145000 employees of Barclays in all of its branches and various services are being provided to customers. Barclays helps the customers to maximise the return of the customer. The customers are advised by the employee as to how to move, lend and protect money. Barclays is known as the safest investment for the customers because it minimises the risk associated with investment. Barclays is aware of the fact that they as organisation can only compete if and only if they have motivate and skilled employee. Being a service industry, motivation is very important to satisfy the clientele. If the employees are dissatisfied and does not enjoy their work, then the bank may lose its clients.
