Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures relating to our topic i.e. Metaparadigm of Nursing. Theories and conceptual models are not really new to nursing; there have been since Nightingale in 1859 first proposed his ideas about nursing. So as Nightingale had his own ideas of nursing all nurses have a private image of nursing practice and this influences the decision we take. However, these global ideas of what we understand by nursing, has been organized by Fawcett (1996) through what he calls "knowledge structure", which places the metaparadigm, philosophies, conceptual models, theory and empirical indicators of a structure down linking the abstract to the concrete world (Cowling, 2007).

Metaparadigm

These are global concepts of the phenomenon of interest related to the discipline of nursing, people, health, environment and nursing, which have been conceptualized differently by different nurses to lead to the generation of conceptual models.

These models provide an overview of the general parameters of nursing including ideas about the nature and role of the patient and the nurse on the environment or culture where nursing is carried on the object or function of nursing care which is health and the actions or nursing interventions (Walker & Avant, 2005).

All these concepts can be characterized as follows:

The person receiving care

The environment in which the person exists

The concept of health as a goal of the person at the time of their interaction with nurse

The nurse's actions

Imogene King

King's theory focuses on the planning and implementation phases of the nursing process. His theory is based on the general assumption that the core of nursing is the interaction of humans with their environment, which leads individuals to a state of health that enables them to function within their social role (Boykin, 2001).

Nursing

Is a behavior that is observable in the health care systems in society, the goal is to help individuals maintain their avalanche so that they can play their role, is seen as an interpersonal process of action, reaction, interaction and transaction (Chinn & Kramer, 2010) .

Person

Individuals are social, conscious, rational being. They have right to know themselves, to participate in decisions that affect their lives, their health, community service and the right to accept or refuse health care.
