Introduction

Managers are the backbone of an organization. They are responsible for five functions. They plan, organize, staff, lead and manage. The major responsibility of a manger is to use resources efficiently and effectively within the organization. Manager plays a vital role in the achievement of the goals of an organisation. He has the duty to reconcile individual goals with the objectives of the organization, and it is significant for long-term success of organizations (Dopson, 1992, pp, 53). Manager also plays an administrative role; he communicates the vision of the organization to all employees. He ensures the effective flow of communication within the organization.

Discussion

Managers are the main source of direction to employees for the accomplishment of organisational tasks they provide clear and complete directions to broadcast to each worker based on their personal abilities (Boddy, 2007, pp. 218).

The necessity of Manager in Organisation

Managers are responsible to take actions that make it possible for employees to contribute their best to the objectives of the organization. Therefore, management is applicable to small and large firms ranging from profit to non-profit organizations to products and services sectors, as well. On the other hand, situations may vary among different levels in organisations or in different types of firms. The extent of authority held may differ, and the types of issues handled may be significantly dissimilar. Manager achieves their objectives through the establishment of an environment for efficient collective effort. Moreover, all managers perform management functions. On the other hand, the time consumption for every function may be different. Therefore, top level managers give more time to planning and organizing as compared to lower level managers. On the other hand, most importantly, the first line supervisors take a lot of time. The difference in the time consumption to control is different slightly for managers at different levels. Therefore, the manager is dynamic and life giving person in all the organization. With no leadership of the manager, the production resources stay mere resources and these resources are not tuned into a product. In a competitive economy, the achievements of business are the products of the quality and performance of the managers (Koontz & Weihrich, 2007, pp. 16). Without any doubt, managers determine the survival of an organization. In addition to it, at present, we do not talk of capital and labour; however, we discuss the management and labour, whereas, the responsibilities of capital and the rights of capital are no more present in the present discussion about the business. At present, we discuss the management responsibilities or prerogatives of management. Therefore, the appearance of management as an important, leading and distinct institution is a key matter in history of society. Management is prone to be fundamental and leading institutions till the human civilization survives.
