Collaborative Logistics Management Increases Supply Chain Efficiency

In the context of logistics management, the main purpose of the research is to introduce and describe collaborative logistics management and investigate its consequence in the supply chain. To attain this purpose, a number of matters should be considered. Initially, an introduction of the area where the study deals with “supply chain management and logistics” will be performed. Then the content of collaboration including definition, form, types, etc. will be considered. Based on the purpose of the study, the thesis will then focus on logistics as a part of supply chain management and investigate the collaborative logistics management. Finally, driving forces, benefits, barriers, and bridges to effective logistics collaboration will be introduced.

Review of supply chain management and logistics research

Examine the state of logistics and supply chain management (SCM) research in the last five years from the standpoint of existing methodologies. The state of research is assessed by examining the research design, number of hypothesis testing, research methods, data analysis techniques, data sources, level of analysis and country of authors.

Managing complexity in global fashion industry supply chains

The purpose of this paper is to examine the agile supply chain management practices adopted by UK clothing retailers in order to effectively manage the supply of innovative, high-margin, high-fashion content product offerings in a complex global environment. A case study approach was adopted examining the whole of the global retail fashion supply chain, from typical UK-based retailers through to their main production and logistics suppliers based in two low-cost locations, China and Romania. The cases of the UK retailers were followed by a study tour of China and Romania, where ten cases of fabric and finishing manufacturers, intermediaries and logistic providers were carried out.

Managing the supply chain with standard mixed loads

Describes the complementary standard mixed loads concept (the standard mix concept in short), which allows for assembling mixed loads at an upstream echelon. These standard mixed loads are assigned to customer orders at an echelon downstream of the chain. Describes two applications of the use of the standard mix concept in order to identify up-front the logistic advantages, both in inventory reduction and in handling reduction. Presents the basic principles of the concept and offers some mathematical modelling. Describes the effects on the inventory at the various points of the supply chain, and presents some simulation results. Will concludes that the concept offers new perspectives for supply chain management and intermodal transport.

Planned supply initiatives: the role of senior management expertise

The purpose of this paper is to assess the selection of planned supply initiatives and the role of senior management expertise. The drivers that influence the selection of particular supply initiatives by firms are of major interest to both practitioners and academics, as choices indicate priorities for resources, potential performance gaps and needs for future research. Moreover, theory indicates that senior management expertise and firm-level resources might influence the likelihood of selecting particular ...
