Introduction

Supply chain management literature highly covers one dominant theme and that is 'collaboration of firms with their customers as well as with their suppliers'. The reason behind this increasing focus of collaboration in supply chain is that it can results in many effective outcomes for a company (Singh & Power, 2009). Considering the increasing focus and importance supply chain collaboration holds, this paper studies the supply chain reforms with respect to two Australian banks i.e. National Australia Bank and Westpac Bank. This research paper provides the supply chain management insights of these two banks, covering the aspects of their supply chain collaboration, that are, customer relationship; supplier relationship; and positive relation between these two.

Methodology

The methodology that will be used for this research paper comprises of qualitative data collection method, and it will use secondary sources. Qualitative data will be gathered through secondary information accumulation, which will base on previous renowned and well acknowledged articles, as well as current information on supply chain of banks.

The National Australia Bank (NAB) is a financial services corporation which offers an integrated and a wide range of financial and banking services including management of wealth across Australia, Asia, New Zealand, USA, and UK (http://au.investsmart.com.au). NAB is among the leading banks of Australia, where its effective supply chain management is one of the key players in its success. The NAB ensures that its business practices must be responsible, fair, and sensitive to the demands of its diversified range of stakeholders. As a huge purchaser of goods and services, NAB extends its responsibility to its supply chain management (www.nab.com.au). NAB recognizes that its suppliers' business conduct and performance have a significant influence on company's reputation and sustainability performance, therefore it greatly focuses on its supply chain reforms. In order to study and evaluate the effectiveness of NAB's supply chain management, it is essential to assess its supply chain collaboration.
