Introduction

Over time, there have been numerous eminent figures in the world, whose actions, cognitive horizons and knowledge played a pivotal role in changing the course of the work all together. These intellectuals and influential individuals had their respective views regarding the world, the happenings that take place and the potential alterations this world can endure. This study entails numerous theories from prominent individuals, which not only brought different dimensions to the functioning of the respective states, but also in the domain of law.

Law and Politics

To understand the theories underlying the basics of law and politics with respect to the individualism and state, it is highly imperative that first the appropriate understanding of law and politics itself is gained. Politics denote the social relations, the manners in which the inhabitants of the society live together with cohesion and arrive at a collective decision or participation of the activity. Most importantly, the term politics entail the employment of social relations concerning either power or authority.

Where as, law is binding and bounding force that provides the society with distinctive guidelines, with respect to not only the standards of norms and collective behaviours but also catering to numerous aspects of the society, like economics, politics and society's norms and relations between the inhabitants of the society.

Historical Times of Hobbes, Locke, and Marx's Era

The era in which Hobbes and Locke rendered their services to the world were deemed as one of the most decisive and critical times in the history of western civilisation. These two influential individuals belong to the seventeenth century; it is that era when the western culture and society took a decisive turn and embarked on to the gradual process of changes and modernisation of the western civilisation or society. The alteration began with the demolition of the conventional concepts of the community, which entailed the representation of the society guides us back to the societies of Aristotle, Plato and even the Old Testament (Althusser, 2007, P. 14).

The conventional concepts of the community comprised mainly of the three crucial factors, which clearly came under tension in the 17th and 18 century; this tension were further consolidated in 19th century and played a pivotal role in significantly altering the norms and conventions of pre seventeenth society and its values; an era in which Marx rendered his philosophical services.

Amongst the main facets of the 17th century was the prevalence of the Religious uniformity; the main aspects of the Religious uniformity was the sharing of the common religious faith by the inhabitants of the western society, the collective and unified rituals under the common church, with well defined and established formation of the religious power, expression and implication.
