America: Land of opportunities

Historians have long argued whether or not America is really a “land of opportunity”. Although it advertised freedom of belief, numerous other rights were denied; especially the privileges of those in the lower class. The high tax rates had an immense sway on the poor. Indentured domestics faced a higher obstacle; it was almost unrealistic to get away from their life. Furthermore, the smaller class' efforts to do well were stifled by the mighty top class.
