Iranian Nuclear Crisis

Introduction

Iran's Nuclear Program has now taken the shape of a crisis not only for the Iran but also for the entire world. As it consequences can have detrimental effects which tend to exceed the borders of Unites States and its long time partner Israel. However, the fact needs to be kept in mind that the nuclear program of Iran was initiated with the help of United States in 1950's.However, different Western countries along with USA took serious interest in the development of the Iran's Nuclear Program until the advent of the Iranian revolution which toppled the Shah of Iran and forced the west to seek the stance against it (Alireza, p.96).

However, due to the proxy war between Israel and Iran in Lebanon the threat of attacking the Iran has elevated. Primarily due to the support of United States to it's one of the major political and strategic partner Israel. However, the world fears greater consequences of this action as the United States continues to back Israel at least on the public front. Thus, in the context of the paper we intend to analyze the consequences of this conflict from the perspective of the United States and the ways U.S should adopt in order to solve the matter.

Discussion

Weighing the Policy

United States have been with war of words with the United States and other powers of the world since the shah of Iran was dethroned due to Iranian revolution. However, the fact needs to be kept in mind that the Iran tends to continue its nuclear program under the umbrella of safeguarding itself from the external threats. The nuclear program of Iran tends to have deep roots with the religious connotation. Different reports have surfaced which have shown the involvement of Iran in supporting different religious group in order to maintain the strategic balance. Whether it is the involvement in Pakistan, Lebanon, Afghanistan and any other country. Iran has used its religious identity in order to protect their interests.

However, the world now faces the threat of Iranian nuclear program. Different world powers along with the media of the world tend to chalk the nuclear program of the Iran as a threat to world peace. Although Iran claims that its nuclear program will solely be for their own security and would act as a deterrent in case of any foreign invasion. As history has witnessed in the past whether it be in the form of Iraq-Iran war or a covert operation in order to support the shah of Iran. However, the conflict in my opinion is that since every country tends to pursue the policy of its own interest therefore United States should do the same (Phyllis, p.101).

The world powers that tend to stand on the grounds of being strong militarily tends to be based on the aspect of their nuclear program. Thus, if a country by themselves has developed the nuclear program for their security how can it stop any other country from doing so? If Iran feels ...
