Salient features of national security at risk immediately after the terrorist attack
After 9/11, Bush believed that, behind this horrific attack, there is a master mind involved. The master mind of the Osama Bin Laden and his supporters Al Qaeda and it are all terrorist organization were residing in Afghanistan. After the one and a half year passed America attacked the soil of Iraq in the hope of finding these terrorist, there was a second armed conflict seen before the operation against the terrorism (Griffin, 2007).
The United States, over and above many of the other states, passed a remarkable number of antiterrorist legislation of the other countries. In view of the fact that because of September 11, a number of lists made, which targeted a lot of people in the war of terrorism that increased to involved not only those individuals and groups who were associated with the Al Qaeda. As the result of these operations such innocence was also labeled as the terrorist, Muslims specially suffered from this miss activity of the government of the America.
America mentioned the terrorism as the most destructive factor for every country, which have made all the troubles and problem, not only in the way of success but also in peace and harmony of the world. Because of these ridiculous decisions that taken by the President Bush created an extensive line and, conflict not only around the world but also in U.S and most of the people were against this moment. These both Wars just ruined the humanity and killed innocent people not the other one, as well the lost of money, human (army, military, marine) who needed to performed the duty on other territory, had to waste time for nothing (Virgo, 2001).
The 9/11 commission, on July 22, 2004, released recommendations to make U.S. safer, more secure and avoid any future attacks on the American soil. These were accepted by a unanimous and bipartisan decision and came directly from the investigations of September 11 attacks. More than 6 years have passed without any other major attack in United States and credit should be given to courageous Americans. The threat still remains (Virgo, 2001).
The U.S' government cannot meet its own obligations to the American people to prevent the entry of terrorists without a major effort to collaborate with other governments. The recommendation is quite vague as how this collaboration can be carried out. It suggests the requirement for universal standards for identity authentication (biometric passports), sharing terrorist watch list with trusted allies and building a global network of screening system that can verify the arrival/departure of individuals and validate that individual's identity in real time. So far there has been unsatisfactory progress in these aspects.
Another step that U.S has not taken till now is the requirement of fingerprints when applying for new or duplicate passport. Fake passports might get through and, thus; terrorists can enter the homeland. Though Us has been very cautious in this regard but still the terrorists, have always ...
