How Ford Motors applies Paradoxical Thinking?
Introduction
In today's confounded era of Globalization this word paradox has a great impact in any management process. It kept bringing changes in the mind set of every individual day by day. Here, the word paradox meaning a statement that leads to confutation when inspected may prove to be well founded or true. Similarly, when this paradoxical thinking approaches management and leadership it becomes a complex challenge for every organization to cater with this approach. Also, it brings flexibility in the environment of the organizational leadership which is a want of every manager. This art of, managing and leading organization lies in snuggling of these disagreeing forces, rather than picking between them. Therefore, organizational managers and leaders must retrain to cater with these paradoxes through a paradoxical thinking mind set; one that follows an optimistic approach rather slitting apart and differentiating. Other than this common paradox life in organizations, the mind set rebels against the actual contradiction. In addition, such abilities are being valued in corporate cultures traditionally.
People usually think in a different way, and they develop different attitudes and behaviors, paradox challenges can meet with rational approaches that maintain a balance in between opposite forces. Managers who are effective create after opportunities for new alternatives, and from these approaches a powerful combination could emerge. This is how an organization can get benefits from the managers having paradoxical approaches. Therefore, effective managers prefer facing paradox challenges rather avoiding it, and they ultimately know how to handle with the sheer tension of discordant options and bringing it to problem solving phase.
Compare and contrast
Managers should know how to compare his paradox approach in an appropriate way. This paradox thinking may take him to take a final decision making, he must get to know whether he should pick both, in a row or he can think and find the answers to his ifs and buts in contradiction of those thoughts. For that, he must brainstorm the question: “how two incompatible ideas can be true?”
