Conflict

For gay men, issues of their masculinity and the ways in which it conflicts with societies definition of what masculinity is troubles them. In some cases, the men fit societies image of masculinity and it occasionally creates problems with their gay lifestyle (Minton 2002, 96). For homosexuals, finding themselves may involve dressing more like the opposite sex (called dressing in drag for gay males), seeking other people that are participating in the homosexual lifestyle for comfort, trying unsuccessfully to change their sexual orientation.
