Discussion and Analysis
The concept of healthy communities has been adopted by many regions of British Columbia. In this context, they create their own vision of a healthy community; develop profiles that illustrate their strengths, needs, and form coalitions and partnerships to improve the health of citizens. The Ministry of Health of British Columbia encourages communities to develop indicators to measure as a means to identify and track the process of improving the health of individuals and communities. With this approach, they can influence decision makers and participate in the process of program planning and policy development that impact on them (John, 2008).

Healthy People set varying targets, depending on the size of the company workforce. For instance, the government wanted 80 percent of employers of 750 and more workers to have such programs; 83 percent had done so as of 1992. Some other objectives are showing progress, Spain said.
