The connections Hamper talks about between the workers on the assembly line are exclusive to state the smallest and sometimes comical or dangerous. After reading this publication I would surmise that most factory employees construct friendships with other factory employees almost exclusively. This could be due to their likeness of interests, likeness of jobs, the detail that they are in communicate daily or just by virtue of the timing of their shifts (as was Hampers case).
