Background

7-Eleven began its business venture in 1927, where Joe Thompson sold staples such as milk, eggs and bread in a Southland Ice Company in Dallas, Texas. Gradually, as it started gaining popularity, he turned it into convenient stores by the name “Tote'm”. (Entrepreneur Media, 2012) Soon afterwards, in 1946, as a result of extending the working hours from 7 am in the morning to 11p.m in the night, the store earned the name of 7-Eleven. Hence there forth began the exciting legendary journey of 7-Eleven Inc. (7- Eleven Inc. 2012)
