'Family Guy' is an American animated sitcom that not only changes the course of creating a humorous, yet real picture of how the society works and influences the people living in it. With the utilization of animation and voice-over by multiple characters, the series tends to make way for analyzing and showing the areas of the society.
Analysis of the Episode
The central idea of episode 21, entitled 'Partial Terms of Endearment' not only made way for a better outcome and understanding the basics of the changes and the challenges that are associated with abortion and the influence that it may have in line with societal development.
Importance of the Episode
In line with the 'Partial Terms of Endearment', the episode narrates of the challenges and the occurrence that take place in our society in alignment with the casualty that is caused by the presence and existence of abortion. The plot revolves between two families; one is the couple Peter and Lois and the other is Naomi and Dale. Lois and Naomi had a bisexual relationship at college and met again at their college re-union. Naomi upon realization informed and asked Lois to set up a meeting with them at her place to discuss something of critical importance. To Peter's intimate surprise, Naomi disclosed that she was having problems of conception and had adopted for Lois to be a surrogate. Even though Peter did not approve in the first place, Lois pertained to continue getting the procedure done and breed the baby. However, in an unfortunate event, the parents Naomi and Dale demised in a traffic accident, leaving Lois the choice of aborting the embryo or continue to breed the baby.
The episode closed with Peter saying 'we had the abortion', leaving much of the audience to think about the life lost and going into a dilemma, persuading us to think about the kind of differences and the problems that coil us every day and that which continue to show us the damages and the problems coiling and breeding menaces such as abortion.
Cultural Changes
Considering the changes and the challenges that have been undertaken in this particular context, it becomes visible that abortion and child birth is not only going to make things worse, but would also cause endless controversy and scandal, causing stress and trauma to take over people (Lader, 1973).
