ABSTRACT
The objective of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the use of bank payment cards in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. In this study we will analyze the impact of different factors on the usage of payment cards in the Ho Chi Minh City. This study starts with the brief introduction of payment cards and their users, then it discuss the concept of product life cycle and describe the customer's perception about payment cards in Vietnam. In the literature review, concept of customer's satisfaction and customer relationship management is discussed. After the discussion of key revenue streams and key cost categories of payment card, impact of payments on liquidity, transaction risk and systemic risk will be discussed. In order to address the research problem and answer the research questions, a mixed method approach will be used. This study aim is to explore participants' views regarding the use of payment cards. The proposed study will employ an exploratory mixed method. This perspective reflects the purpose of the study and the research questions, which are the driving forces behind all methodological choices. Payment cards have positive impact on the banking profitability. This study leads to the conclusion that, payment cards industry is a promising industry and the increasing number of payment cards will lead to an increase in the banking profitability in Vietnam and banks should expand the issuance of plastic cards and extend the electronic delivery channels in order to expand the market of cards inside Vietnam.
