Introduction

In the assignment, methods of reviewing, evaluating, teaching and learning have been checked. Performing all these methods will guarantee that the teacher gets a better understanding of what they have to deliver,and it will improve the skills of teacher in the class room and construction workshop.

Evaluation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment

All the learners go through the process of being screened. Numeracy and literacy tests are given to the learners which helps the teacher to see who comes out at what level, i.e. Level 1,2 or 3. Feedback is essential from both the learners and the teachers. All learners are asked to do a Hawaiian questionnaire, that will help the teachers to gather information and give feedback. The information is then gathered and passed on to the course leaders to evaluate the students(Chappuis, 2005, Pp 39).

The data is collected in different ways:

1: Practical assessment booklets consist of 8 modules plus end of unit tests that studetns must pass by attempting 12 out of 20 questions.

2: Health and Safety test in which 25 out of 25 questions must be passed by the students.

3: Synoptic tests are practical and timed based tests.

4: 60 question multi choice end of term test and students must pass 30 questions. The test id reset if fail.

Practical lessons are planned by using the bricklaying booklet throughout the year. It give the learners information on how to construct the brick and block modules. Theory lessons are quite different to plan. Resources that are used, come in different ways such as handouts, course books, essays, references and power points that can be done via the College library computers or researching the internet for material(Absolum, 2006, Pp 42).

The modern teacher should assist all the learners to learn for themselves. Research is vital to the teachers and enhances the delivery of subjects for all the concerns. All learners learn at their pace and this is where the teacher draws on experience of knowledge. Many 'modern' syllabuses are being written in terms of the competences and the assessment associated with them relates it with the work place. For improving teaching pattern, teachers should continue to evaluate and reflect on their teaching methods. They should also continue to analyze data and interpret it to evaluate the learners.

Student Centered Learning and Assessment

The students on the course 'Foundation Tier Construction'

are all expected to follow the learning aims and outcomes. The assignments are in booklet form containing information on how to select the correct tools, their usage , roll and spread field gun and building of simple brick walls. Most of the students achieved the assignment learning outcomes. All students in class are of mixed ability and with various learning styles(Black, 1998, Pp 78).
