Abstract

Healthcare industry has more concern for the ethical decision making process that is being depicted by the personal values of the stakeholders and organizational standards of the company. Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest comprehensive healthcare system and an investment decision in company will be to great extent dependent on the satisfaction of its present internal and external stakeholders. This paper is written with an aim to analyze the position of VHA with the help of SWOT analysis, identify the stakeholders' of the company and the way company responds to the need fulfillment of such stakeholders. Introduction

Ethics are important in every aspect of life. In the context of healthcare, ethical values are faced with lots of uncertainties. Ethics remain an important component of every decision that is being made in a healthcare setting. Personal and organizational values have a substantial impact on the ethical decision making process. Distinctive functional labels will be associated with the ethics responsibility in case if a person is working for the US government. Ethics have different categories such as business ethics, research ethics, nursing or governmental ethics and the importance of each label has to be taken into account. This paper is written with an objective to analyze the position of Veterans Health Administration by conducting a SWOT analysis of the company and deciding that whether an investment should be made in VHA or not. The internal and external stakeholders of the company will be identified so as to understand their wants and needs. The paper will also focus on the ways adopted by the company to fulfill the needs of stakeholders as this element serve as an important consideration in making an investment decision.

Veterans Health Administration

One of the components of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) occupies an important position in the context of health care. This component is known as Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The company is led by Under Secretary of Veterans Affairs of Health who remains in coordination with numerous outpatient clinics, hospitals and medical centers of VA to implement the VA assistance program (Inglehart, 1996). As compared to all other elements of VA, VHA provide employment opportunities to large number of employees. It is the largest comprehensive healthcare system that covers about 8.3 million veterans who are served by almost 53,000 independent licensed practitioners. The administration also comprises of 152 medical centers, community living centers providing VHA an important VA facility status (United States Department of veterans Affiars).

A number of studies have provided with the fact that VHA provide better care as compared to other care systems present in the country.
