"Three Farewells" looks at the tough and occasionally heart-rending choices a adoring family makes as they battle the end of life.

Our article begins with wish, literally and figuratively. Hope is the name Faith and her married man selected out for the baby they were having if it were a girl. For Faith's mother, benevolent society, still in her fifties, evolving a grandmother would take a little getting utilised to. But the pregnancy went flawlessly. And, at forty weeks on the dot, belief went into labor. Then something went incorrect. On the way into the clinic there was a prolapse of the umbilical cord, cutting off oxygen to the unborn baby. At the hospital, everything that could be done was done; but now Baby Hope is on a respirator, her mind waves are very feeble, and she shows no response to anything. How should the parents conclude what is best for Baby wish now? (Mazumdar, 2002)

A few years later, the baby's grandmother Charity learns that she is in the early phases of Alzheimer's infection. Habitually a strong, unaligned individual, Charity inquires her husband to pledge her that, if she can no longer remember her family, not anything at all should be done to prolong her life. Five years subsequent, Charity doesn't understand what day it is, what she used to do for a living, or who the president is. She doesn't recognize her husband, her female child, or anyone additional. Then benevolent society has a small stroke. She retrieves from it, and while she can no longer speak, her other adeptness and her mind-set in the direction of life seem unchanged(Mazumdar, 2002).

Eventually, benevolent society passes away. A couple of years subsequent, there is still more tragedy in Faith's life. Belief evolves ...
