There is no question as to whether eugenics should be practiced, but, rather, to what extent. At present, only a limited amount of eugenic manipulation is being performed. For all but most blatantly disadvantageous genes, such as those for hemoglobin S or hemophilia, it may be impossible to predict their future worth. For foreseeable future, eugenicists may have to deal only with those genetic traits known to be of severe disadvantage (Black, 2003).
