Introduction

Entrepreneurship tends to be interpreted as the act of being an entrepreneur whereas, the term 'Entrepreneur' tends to extract its roots from the French language where it signifies or renders to any person who identifies an opportunity and organizes the resources needed to implement the idea. This can result in the creation of new organizations, companies or may be part of revitalizing mature organizations in response to potential opportunities (Rita & Ian, 2008). However, the term has been attached with the concepts of creating additional business, but lately; the term has been extended to include activities that make the social and political culture or nature of the organization. However, many experts tends to define 'Entrepreneurship' as the ability to identify the right time to take decisions which is eventually seen by the world as the right decision at the right time.

However, the idea of Entrepreneurship tends to vary depending upon the type of organization crafted. Entrepreneurship ranges from individual projects (even those who the entrepreneur is not dedicated exclusively) to multiple major initiatives that create employment opportunities (Martin, 2010). However, in the context of this paper different entrepreneurial approach such as profit oriented businesses and social oriented businesses will be discussed. Moreover, Amazon.com and Red Cross will be analyzed respectively in order to gauge the above mentioned entrepreneurial approaches .This will be done in order to develop a sound understanding of the subject.

Red Cross

Red Cross has been selected primarily to analyze and understand the social-responsibility oriented entrepreneurial approach. Clara Barton established American Red Cross in 1881 with certain objectives in her mind. Clara, at that time did not cater to the threats and focused her efforts in order to align support and supplies to the soldier during the Civil War. However, the charter of the American Red Cross tends to signify that it is a non-profit, tax exempt, charitable organization. However, it tends to revolve around the fundamental principles of humanity, voluntary service, universality, independence, neutrality, impartiality and unity. The objective of the mission is to help those who are affected by the course disasters whether naturally occurring or man crafted disasters (www.redcross.org).

Plus it also helps the victims and the authorities to respond to emergencies by providing the required resources. The services of the American Red Cross tends to speak for themselves whether it be helping the soldiers in the civil war or rendering services and support to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. However, it area of operation is not limited to the border of the United States thus it rather operates in the are beyond the borders of the USA (Patrick, Maria & Petru, 2008). Moreover, American Red Cross also tends to stretch its services to include the blood centers as the half of the blood donated today in United States is due to the role played by the American Red Cross in this regard.
