CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY

The Research Process

The first step of any research is to identify a subject area of research and design a clear objective within it to do further study on that particular research. Secondly, after getting secondary data from different sources on a similar subject has to be critically reviewed. To carry out proper research an ideal person has to be defined, out of which, a sample has to be dispatched for survey by different sources.

However, to make the research more authentic, qualitative research has to be carried out in the former of descriptive questionnaire. Lastly, before completing the report, the qualitative data thus collected has to be analysed properly and then drive final conclusion.

Following table will show a brief summary of the research process 3. (I)

Research Philosophy

This research focused on the collection of primary data as relevant sources for data collection. The extraction of data was done from questionnaires, and interviews.

Justifications of Data Collection Methods used

Questionnaires and interviews were chosen as a data collection method because they are the most suitable and reliable form of collecting information, from someone without taking much of their time (Patrick, 2009, 74). Questionnaire for this cross sectional survey is considered as the best method of collecting information, as this research is based on qualitative and quantitative measures of identifying job satisfaction and opportunities for employee development and other factors influencing performance level.

Research Sample

The sample size for the research was 50 people who were questioned using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, containing both open-ended and close-ended questions. The benefit of this type of research is that it is done relatively quickly because all the research data is gathered at the same point in time. The research was done on the employees of ITC having different demographics at the same point in time, so cross sectional survey has been chosen as the research method. The part B of the survey consisted of questions regarding the effect of incentive schemes on employee performance Moreover interviews were conducted from the employees of the organization in order to further reinforce our findings with the set of answers that can address the topic directly.

Most of the questions were closed questions as it will be easy for the audience to fill them. It took no more than 10 minutes for them to fill a questionnaire. Very simple language was be used for the questionnaire, understandable by everyone because. The ITC has employees from different regions. The interviews also consisted of both closed and open ended questions to be precise, easy to answer and to the point. The participants for our research were chosen through convenience sampling.

Questionnaire Design

The questionnaire was based on a Likert scale, having sixteen close-ended questions. The survey questionnaire will be based on relevant questions ...
